“A Student First!” Library

THIS is what I call THE service to students. The library at University of Tartu in Estonia stays open till midnight to help students get through the exam period. Mothers can bring their children of age 2 – 7 and they will be taken care of by library staff.

Now imagine you would demand such a thing in Bratislava. On first place everybody would laugh at you. A question “Are you normal?” would follow. Loads of excuses why is it not possible after that. In the end, and that assumes enormous energy spent on your demand getting probably through local media to rectors office, you would get answer that it’s not so hard, but there are no money for it.

Just a detail? Maybe…  But tens of details make one whole picture, don’t they?
