Euro-Indecisive

DESPITE the great media coverage this might be a piece of breaking news for somebody – the EuroParliamentary elections is knocking on the door. In case you are part of the less-than-ten percent of population who want to vote, but have no idea who is the best, there is a small hint.  Check out this website and it will show you which party is the best match to your personal preferences. I have tried it. Three times.

The result? With the same preferences, if I were a Czech, I should vote for the Greens. Out from the slovak parties, according to the website the mainstream Democrats (SDKU-DS) suits me best (they made the same version for Slovakia and Czech republic). A Briton with my preferences should give his vote to the Liberals – or anti-EU party Libertas. Had I a german passport, I should be a voter of Free Democrats (FDP) with the minimal difference from  Social Democrats (SPD) on the second place. A bit confused, aren’t you?

Fortunately, the two biggest groups in the European Parliament are mostly voting identically – according to VoteWatch it is roughly 70 per cent of all cases. Without their MEPs it is impossible to pass anything. Moreover, the People’s Party, the Social Democrats and even the Liberals were part of winning majority in more than 80%  of votings.

All in all it really seems it doesn’t matter who is one voting for, or if one votes at all, does it?
